As part of the 2022 Air Max Day celebrations, Nike released an exclusive European version of the women’s Air Max 1 called ‘La Ville-Lumière’ to commemorate the shoe’s 35th anniversary. The name, meaning ‘City of Lights,’ is a tribute to Paris, where the Centre Pompidou’s unique inside-out design inspired Tinker Hatfield’s iconic visible Air-sole unit. The shoe’s design features a white mesh base with a grey nubuck mudguard and iridescent overlays on the midfoot and heel. Navy tongue tags display the ‘3.26’ branding, while the translucent rubber outsole showcases printed text that includes the shoe’s name and release date. This limited-edition release is a nod to the timeless style of the Air Max 1 and its enduring legacy in the world of sneaker culture.
